After selecting Flau’jae Johnson from LSU with the 8th overall pick, the Golden State Valkyrie traded the rights to Johnson for the rights to 16th overall pick Marta Suarez and a 2028 second round pick.

Suarez averaged 11.6 points and 6.2 rebounds in her lone season for the Horned Frogs. She shot 45.3% from the field and 37% from beyond the arc, while also leading the conference in double doubles with 9. She also isn’t new to the bay after spending 2 seasons playing at the University of California, Berkeley.

Trading an 8 pick (that was expected to go a bit higher) for a 16 pick (and a future second rounder) doesn’t seem great.
I like the additional height anyway. Hope it works out.
